Start a Scholarship

Scholarships are one of the most effective ways to honor or memorialize someone

They are also a rewarding way to help someone. Many successful people have benefitted from someone else’s generosity during their early years.

The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester offers you two options in creating a scholarship fund:

  1. You may create a permanent scholarship fund with a minimum gift of $20,000. Your endowed fund will provide a scholarship long into the future. The selection criteria may honor or memorialize a loved one, reflect your own values and ensure that your family name has a continuing presence in the community.
  2. You may also fund a scholarship by simply writing a check for a minimum of $1100. You select the criteria for your scholarship and the Community Foundation will handle all of the details. The scholarship may be awarded in your name or any name that you choose.  Your one-time gift will help a deserving student realize his or her dreams.

"School is the last expenditure upon which America should be willing to economize."
